Flounder's Day - December 28

On this day in 2002, www.coots.org was registered as a domain name and the Coots became 'official' on the World Wide Web. Flounder's Day is a corruption of Founder's Day. It was first celebrated in 2005.

There are typically two celebrations: Flounder's Day North and Flounder's Day South in Portland and Eugene (respectively) and the location tends to change from year to year.

Individuals unable to attend the regional celebration may take part by consuming food or drink that can be related, in any way - no matter how obscure, to flounders.

The name and celebration for Flounder's Day was suggested by Frank Mabrey as a time for "regional gatherings, with pouring of libations or other ceremony."
