Coos Bay Area Messabout
February 22, 23 and 24

The Bay Area Messabout will be in the Bay Area - of course. We can camp at Sunset Beach state park out by Cape Arago, and wimps can stay at a
cheap motel in Charleston.
Activities will include

• Visiting Jerry Alvey at his old outboard shop in Eastside -- it's almost a museum -- and visiting Coos Bay Iron Works, a machine shop built started in the 1880s -- a fascinating place!
• We'll wander around the Charleston shipyard -- always something interesting going on there because it's about the cheapest place on the coast to haul and work on your boat -- and the docks.
• If weather permits we can go boating up South Slough.
  
• If weather doesn't cooperate we can retreat to the Coos Bay library, which has a good selection of marine and historical books.
  
• We won't be bored! Griff's may be open by then, and is only 20-some-odd miles away, and there's an excellent Thai/Lao restaurant in Charleston.
